What's New (June 2026)
Hi there,
We're almost halfway through 2026; hopefully you're doing great and staying active (indoors or out). Here's what we've been working on.
New Route Editor
Biketerra's Route Editor has gotten a complete overhaul. It's faster, easier to use, and common route issues can now be fixed with 1-click.

Biketerra also includes an experimental draw tool to let you build a route from scratch. Simply add some waypoints to the map and hit Go... a route path will be auto-calculated, which you can export to GPX.

After uploading a GPX, the Route Editor will display some route quality scores, route issues, and other useful stats.

Most minor issues can be resolved by clicking the Fix button.

Low Gradient smoothness or Elevation alignment scores can be improved by clicking their respective buttons one or more times.

The new editor also has the ability to auto-detect bridges and tunnels, thanks to Jim and his excellent brunnels library.

Finally, your routes can now be exported to GPX or minimal JSON.
New UI Stats
Biketerra now optionally displays Calories (both instantaneous kcal and your hourly burn rate), Left/Right Balance (assuming a power meter), and a real-time Power Zone chart.

Calories and L/R balance are also shown on the activity detail page, as well as included in the FIT file export.
Drafting Model V2
Biketerra's drafting model is now more accurate than ever. We've adjusted the slipstream shape, increased the tail length, and tweaked numerous other parameters. Drafting should feel better than ever! 💨

Huge kudos to Mike for his limitless expertise. Model fitting & validation isn't for the faint of heart!
Support Biketerra 🙌
Subscriptions help provide the funding we need to keep innovating. Please consider subscribing, and/or help spread the word!

In a market dominated by large VC-backed corporations and mergers, we're adamant about Biketerra staying lean, focused, and independent.
Custom Virtual Gear Ratios
If you use virtual shifting, you can now customize your gear ratios.
After pairing a virtual shifting compatible device, you'll see a new Drivetrain setting in the Devices menu.

Choose Add new... from the dropdown to create a custom set of gear ratios.

Then you can either enter your gear ratios manually, or type the drivetrain spec (e.g. 50/34T + 11-32T, 11 speed) and hit Convert to have the gear ratios calculated and de-duped automatically.

Rowing Machine Support
Similar to HR to Power, you can now pair a rowing machine and use Biketerra for casual (non-racing) rides. The Rowing Power Boost setting lets you adjust the power multiplier (up to +50%).
