Events

Events are scheduled group rides and races on Biketerra. Each event is tied to a specific route and has a start time, a listing duration, and an optional lap count. Events can be public (visible to everyone) or private (accessible only via an invite link). Premium members can create events.

Casual

A Casual event is a relaxed group ride with no competitive pressure. Riders can start at any time. Casual events are ideal for social rides where finishing order doesn't matter.

Anytime

An Anytime event is an always-available ride that doesn't require signup or a specific start time. These events are created by moderators and are open to everyone, making them useful as practice routes, impromptu group rides, or warming up before competitive events.

Race

A Race is a mass-start competition. All riders begin at the same time once the scheduled start is reached. Races support multiple laps (1 to 20) and feature a live leaderboard with real-time rankings. Results are recorded as each rider crosses the finish line.

Individual Time Trial (ITT)

An ITT lets each rider start independently once the event window opens. When the start time arrives, you'll see a prompt to begin your effort. Your time is recorded from the moment you start to the moment you finish, so you're racing against the clock rather than side by side with other riders. Like races, ITTs support multiple laps.

Team Time Trial (TTT)

A TTT is a team-based race where members of a team start together via a coordinated countdown. The team leader initiates a 60-second countdown once the event window opens. Teams must have between 3 and 6 riders online to start – if the team size falls outside that range during the countdown, it automatically aborts. When the countdown reaches zero, all team members begin simultaneously. Riders not on a team appear as unaffiliated and cannot participate in the team countdown. Results show both team times and individual rider times.

Workout

A Workout is a structured group training session. The event creator controls the workout, including starting, pausing, and skipping intervals. Other participants follow along in sync. Workouts support imported workout files from formats like ZWO, TrainerDay, and Intervals.icu, making them well suited for coached sessions and group training.

Event Series

An Event Series is a collection of related events – typically stages – with combined results tracked across the entire series. A series is made up of one or more stages, and each stage can have multiple timeslots (scheduled occurrences). For example, a three-stage series might offer morning and evening timeslots for each stage so riders in different time zones can participate.

To create a series, you add stages, assign a route and default settings (event type, duration, laps) to each one, then schedule one or more timeslots per stage. Each timeslot can optionally override the stage defaults if needed -- for instance, a different lap count for a specific time slot.

The series results page shows overall standings based on total time across all stages, along with a breakdown of each rider's individual stage times and how many stages they've completed. You can also filter results by a specific stage or timeslot to see how a single event played out.
