What's New (August 2026)

Hi there,

As indoor season inches closer, we've been hard at work making Biketerra look and feel better. Here's the highlights:

A living sky

The atmosphere is now physically simulated, so sunrises and sunsets render with realistic color and glow. Golden hour is stunning!

6am mountain sunrise

Clouds are volumetric and drift with the wind: towering cumulus down low, streaky cirrus up high. No two skies look the same.

Night rides are way more immersive. Every naked-eye star is rendered in its true position, rotating overhead as the night goes on. Also, the moon shows its current phase.

In the ride settings, set the "Time" slider, then turn on "Time flow" and let day fade into night as you ride.

A fresh coat of paint

The world got an art pass to match the new sky. Hillsides shift naturally between lush green, sun-dried grass, and bare earth. Roads pick up a subtle sheen, and water sparkles. ✨

Never ride alone

Indoor miles fly by with good company — and now every ride can have it.

Biketerra's V3 bots ride convincingly: they pace with you, sit on your wheel, work together in groups, and help you push further.

Bots now have situational awareness. Each one watches the riders around it, checks how it's feeling, and decides what to do next. When the moment is right, they're able to attack, chase, counter-attack, etc.

There's a new "Bots" setting where you set the mood: an easy-going social spin, a spirited Gran Fondo, or a full-tilt race.

Towns with character

We've added some more building styles and materials, so towns look more interesting as you ride through. More to come!

Eye-level POV camera

Thanks to user feedback, we raised the first-person camera to eye level. Small change, but POV riding feels a lot more natural.

New homepage, cleaner site

There's a new homepage, cleaner pages across the site, a mobile-friendly filter bar for browsing routes and events, and settings you can edit in place. Everything is a little easier to find.

Linux app

Linux users, we've heard your pleas. The Native Apps page now includes builds for both .deb and .flatpak. 🐧

Friendly reminder that Biketerra also has native apps for iOS, macOS, and Windows 10+. Compared to Chrome, native apps have way better bluetooth... faster scanning, device saving, and auto-connect.

In a market dominated by large VC-backed corporations and mergers, we're adamant about Biketerra staying lean, focused, and independent.
