Biketerra

Riding a real-world route in Biketerra

Biketerra focuses on ease-of-use and real-world accuracy. The terrain, elevation, land cover and climate are based on real-world data, and speeds aren't gamified. Upload a GPX, FIT or TCX file, or pick from the 50,000+ km library, and you are riding it in 3D within seconds. Built on web technologies, it even runs in Chrome or Edge.

MyWhoosh

The MyWhoosh riding view

Some of its flagship races require performance verification and carry cash prizes. MyWhoosh is the official platform of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships.

How to choose

You want to race

All the platforms have group rides and races. For populated races, Zwift or MyWhoosh (especially SRC) have the highest attendance.

You want to free ride with others

Zwift has more riders out on the road than any other platform.

You want to ride your own routes

Biketerra was built from the ground up to handle route uploads, and includes a powerful route editor. TPV also supports GPX uploads.

You want realistic physics

Biketerra or TPV. Both model the ride rather than tuning the speeds to feel good.

You want to run workouts

Any of them. All five can pull in and run structured workouts.

You want scenery to look at

Rouvy for video of the real road. MyWhoosh for 3D visuals on a higher-end machine. Biketerra for the real terrain of the place you're riding.

You want configurable bots to ride with

TPV bots are highly regarded, and are often used to supplement races. Biketerra has a variety of bot modes & realistic race behavior.

You don't want to spend anything

MyWhoosh is free. Biketerra's free account is limited to 6 featured routes (plus events), but has no usage limits.

You want to start riding now

Biketerra runs entirely in a browser tab, with nothing to install and modest hardware requirements. The native apps are tiny downloads.

Ride the road you had in mind.
